- Traditional Windsor Chairs -

Traditional hand tools.

Old tools have a special feel to them when being used they come to hand easily, most of them have hand-made handles and blades.

The tools displayed on the chair seat in a clockwork direction from bottom left, spoke shave,

in-shave, line scriber, travisher, and cabinet scrapper,  all are used for the hand carving of Yew and Elm  seats to give its deep comfortable shape, also giving the hand finish and individuality of all the other chair parts.

Sandpaper is not used the finish is achieved by using specialist sharp chair making tools, i.e. tooled finish.
